John "Jake" Rogel's Obituary
John "Jake" Rogel, Jr., 84, of Alliance, died on Monday, September 30, 2002, at his home. Born in Iselin, Pa., on Nov. 4, 1917, he had been a resident of Alliance for most all of his life. A veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S.Army, he was a member of the V.F.W. Post 1036. Mr. Rogel was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and was also a member of their Funtastics Club. He was also a member of the Trentino Alpine Club. He retired from B & W Research in 1981 after 32 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Josephine T. (Pandin) Rogel of 52 years; three daughters and their spouses, Mary Jo and George Kagan of Chicago, Anne Marie and Fred Nichandros of Castro Valley, Ca., and Linda T. and Emory Swan of Akron; two sons and their spouses, Joseph G. and Cindy Rogel of Alliance, and John D. and Barbara Rogel of Alliance; 11 grandchildren; four sisters, Angela Phillips of Youngstown, Mary Jane Stanley of Alliance, Rose Amabeli of Sebring, and Frances Pinkerton of Alliance; two brothers, Frank Rogel of Chicago and Albert Rogel of Rancho Cordova, Ca.; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, John and Mary (Sever) Rogel, Sr.; and a brother, Joseph Rogel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Thursday, October 3, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. The Sharer- Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
