John B."Jack" Richards' Obituary
John B. "Jack" Richards, 84, of Alliance, passed on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at 7:25 a.m. at Mercy Medical Center. Born on December 9, 1927 in Alliance, he lived in Alliance all of his life and was a graduate of Alliance High School. A veteran of WWII, he served our country in the U. S. Army Air Corps. Jack was a member of the First Christian Church. He retired from the J & L Steel in Louisville, where he was employed as a steel worker. Mr. Richards was a member of V.F.W. Sebring Post #6730 and of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Louisville. In his past-time, he enjoyed sports, especially Mount Union and the Cleveland Browns. He also enjoyed discussions in politics and history. Survivors include a close friend, Karen Butler; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his wife, Alice L. (Wareham) Richards on November 13, 2002; his parents, Albert C. and Irene (Lewis) Richards; and three brothers, William, Albert and James. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Sunday, November 18, 2012 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Pam Bruno of the First Christian Church officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will take place at Highland Memorial Park at a later date. Arrangements are by the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home, 1000 S. Union Avenue, Alliance, Ohio 44601.
