John "Jack" Masterson, Jr.'s Obituary
John "Jack" Masterson, Jr., 85, of Lorain, died on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at 9:55 a. m. at Altercare of Alliance. He was born on June 10, 1926 in Vincennes, IL and lived in Lorain all of his life. He was a resident of Alliance for the last four years. He was received his education from the Princeton High School in Princeton, Indiana and then enlisted in the U. S. Navy. Following his service to our country, he was employed at U.S Steel in Lorain for his entire working career, where he retired as a Supervisor. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Lorain, Ohio. In his past-time, he enjoyed helping his children when they were in Band and in later years with sports. But he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and watching them play sports. He is survived by a daughter, Debbie (Dale) Grasse of Mesa, AZ; three sons, Mike Masterson of Vermillion, OH, John (Mary) Masterson of Sandusky, OH, and Tom (Tennie) Masterson of Marlboro; four grandchildren, Amy Anello of Cleveland, Andrew, Kyle and Zachary Masterson of Marlboro; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his wife, Mary Masterson on March 5, 2011, whom he married on October 26, 1944; an infant daughter; his parents, John and Thelma (Weeks) Masterson, Sr.; and a half brother, Darwin Weeks. A private Memorial Funeral Service will be held a later date. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Amherst, Ohio.
