John C. Leforte's Obituary
John C. Leforte, 75, of Alliance, died on Wednesday, January 2, 2002, at 5:50 a.m. his residence. Born in Osceola Mills, Pa., on March 27, 1926, he had lived in the Alliance area since 1948. A veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy, he received the American Theater Ribbon, the Victory Medal and the Pacific Theater Ribbon. Mr. Leforte was a member of the Union Avenue United Methodist Church. He had previously been employed at B & W Rush Street Plant and had retired from the Alliance Machine Co. in 1987. Survivors include his wife Anna U. (Adams) Leforte of 53 years, to whom he married on December 24, 1948; a son, John David Leforte of Alliance; three daughters, Karen Leforte and Jo Ann Schneider both of Alliance, and Marilyn LeForte of Winters, Ca.; nine grandchildren, Stephen Leforte, Suzanne Bell, Mark Leforte, Keith Warren, Natalie Petersberger, Rachel Warren, Miranda Petersberger, Vinny Schneider and Tony Schneider; two sisters, Lois Kimmel of Tyrone, Pa. and Evelyn Shank of Canton; and a brother, Harold Leforte of E. Rochester. Preceding him in death were his parents, James A. and Mary Catherine (Mellow) Leforte; and three brothers, James, George and Donald Leforte. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Saturday, January 5, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Gordon W. Ruggles officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, January 4, 2002, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
