John Donald "Don" LaNave's Obituary
John Donald “Don” LaNave, 86, of Alliance, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 8, 2023 at 6:05 pm at Altercare of Alliance.
Born on April 6, 1937 in Alliance, to Leonard and Mary Esther (Derr) LaNave, he lived in Alliance all of his life.
A 1955 graduate of Alliance High School, Don was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He was employed at Alliance Machine Co., retiring from their structural division after 30 years of service.
Don and Darleen enjoyed taking trips out west by train and spending winter months in Florida over the past 25 years. He also enjoyed collecting train and Alliance related memorabilia.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Darleen M. (Wallace) LaNave; his daughter, Lynn (Bill) Foughty of Louisville; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his son, Michael J. LaNave; three brothers, Theodore P., James Kenneth and Louis L. LaNave; and his In-laws, Clifford and Pearl (Brand) Wallace.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 21, 2023 from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home.
His Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 22, 2023 at 1:30 pm at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home, with Rev. G. David Weikart, officiating. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
