John "Scotty" Farrell's Obituary
John "Scotty" Farrell, 90, of Hartville, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 6:34 pm at Aultman Hospital. He was born on February 18, 1924 in Edinburgh, Scotland to Francis and Mary (Skede) Farrell. John served in the British Army in World War II and took part in the Landing in Normandy on Sword Beach on D-Day with the sixth beach group, 3rd Division. He came to the US in March of 1954 and moved to Alliance in 1960. John retired as Maintenance Supervisor / Electrician from Alliance Rubber Co. after many years of service. He was a member of B.P.O. Elks, Lodge #467, where he was a Past Exalted Ruler and Past Secretary. John enjoyed reading, but especially loved spending time with his family. John is survived by his two sons, John K. (Cyndee) Farrell of Hartville, OH, and James F. (Kristi) Farrell of Louisville, OH; three grandsons, John K. (Stacey) Farrell of York, PA, James F. Farrell of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, and Michael T. (Sarah) Farrell of Alliance, OH; granddaughter, Danielle Nicole (Nicolas) Brown of Alliance, OH; 7 great-grandchildren; niece, Fiona Grady of Long Island, NY; two brothers, Hughie Farrell of London, England, and Fergus Farrell of Halifax, England; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte C. "Chris" (Kossatz) Farrell, who died on October, 8, 2013; his parents, Francis and Mary (Skede) Farrell; two sisters, Helen and Molly; and two brothers, Francis and Jimmy. Private Services will be held. Interment will take place at Alliance City Cemetery. Arrangements are by Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home.
