John "Jack" Eggleston's Obituary
John "Jack" Eggleston, 80, of Alliance, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2010, in Winterhaven, FL. He was born on December 2, 1929 in Alliance, and lived here all of his life. A 1948 graduate of Alliance High School, he was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Eggleston retired from the U.S. Postal Service, where he was employed as a letter carrier. Jack was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, the Alliance B.P.O. Elks Lodge #467, the American Legion Post 166 and the Four Lakes Veterans Organization in Florida. In his past-time, he enjoyed golf, bowling, card playing, and Mt. Union and Notre Dame athletics. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann (Calderone) Eggleston whom he married on July 10, 1954; three sons, Michael (Catherine) Eggleston of Ravenna, Daniel (Debra) Eggleston of Belleair Bluffs, FL and Christopher (Angela) Eggleston of Alliance; seven grandchildren, Chelsea, Alyssa, Dylan, Connor, Colin, Madison and Sadie; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Harvey and Gertrude (Rodgers) Eggleston; and a brother, Arthur "Bill" Eggleston. The B.P.O. Elks Lodge #467 will conduct a service at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at 5: 30 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 8:00 p.m. with the Msgr. James Kolp, of St. Joseph Catholic Church officiating.
