John R. Coco Sr.'s Obituary
John R. Coco Sr., 96, of Alliance, passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at his home.
Born on May 17, 1925 in Alliance, to Charles and Carmela (Mangano) Coco, he lived in Alliance all of his life.
A 1943 graduate of Alliance High School, John was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church.
A veteran of WWII, he served our country in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Staff Sergent Ball Turret Gunner on a B-17, flying 35 combat missions.
John was employed with Metropolitan Life as an insurance agent and manager retiring in 1989 after more than 25 years of service.
He was a member of the B.P.O. Elks, Lodge #467, VFW Post #1036 and the Trentino Alpine Club.
Survivors include his daughter, Mary Ann (Jeffrey) Kile of N. Canton; three sons, John R. Coco, Jr. of Alliance, Mark (Ginger) Coco of Dublin and David (Mary) Coco of Columbus; seven grandchildren, Jason, Steven, Matthew (Asha), Zachery, Madison, Lauren and Annie; five great-grandchildren, Leonardo, Enzo, Fiona, Colin, and Private First Class Dakota - Stationed in Vicenza, Italy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his wife of over 60 years, Mabel (Paletti) Coco; his parents; his daughter-in-law, Rhonda; four sisters and four brothers.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 14, 2022 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at 10:00 am at Regina Coeli Catholic Church, with Rev. G. David Weikart, as celebrant. Burial, with military honors, will immediately follow at Highland Memorial Park.
