John Andersen's Obituary
John J. Andersen, 83, of Alliance, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 8:15 p.m. at his home.
Born on August 29, 1933 in Brooklyn, New York to Louis and Margaret (Byrne) Andersen, he lived in Alliance for most of his life.
A veteran of the Korean War, he served our country in the U.S. Army and was a Life Member of the DAV.
He graduated from Mount Union College in 1960, obtaining a Bachelor Degree in Business/Economics.
John was employed with Ford Motor Company Forging in Canton as a Data Systems Manager and retired in 1987 after 30 years of service.
He was affectionately known as “the big A”. His favorite past-time was arguing about his favorite subject, politics, or about any other topic would do as well.
Survivors include his daughter, Teresa (Mike) Bichsel of Alliance; his son, Stephen Andersen of Canton; three grandchildren, Michael (Amber) Bichsel, John Bichsel and Chesney (Hunter) Daniels; five great-grandchildren, Michael Bichsel, Jr., Gabriel Bichsel, Julia Bichsel, Owen Daniels and Ivy Daniels; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Marjorie Petersen; and two brothers, Robert Andersen and Richard Andersen.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 20, 2017 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home.
His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 11:00 am at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home, with the Rev. Christine Petersen-Snyder, officiating. Cremation will follow.
