Joan Marilyn Parrish's Obituary
Joan (Simcox) Parrish, 87, of Paris, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 3:20 am at McCrea Manor in Alliance.
Born in Akron on February 9, 1928, she lived in Paris, Ohio for most of her life.
She was a graduate of Uniontown High School and retired from the Stern & Mann Company.
Joan was a member of Freeburg Church of the Brethren, where she sang in their choir. She also sang in the Louisville Community Choir and performed in the Washington Ruritan Variety Shows.
Mrs. Parrish was a member of the Eight Belles Card Club for over 50 years and a member of the Washington Township Farm Women's Club.
In her past-time, she enjoyed traveling, bowling and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Lynn (Charles) Gase of Sidney, OH, Tina (Gary) Ickes of Alliance; four Grandchildren, Richard Gase of AZ, Maria (Rick) Eswine of GA, Mark (Lindy) Gase of Findlay, OH, Theresa (Rado Tonev) Gase of MI; three great-grandchildren, Therese, Catherine, and Lillian Gase all of Findlay; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Richard Charles Parrish on May 20, 2005, whom she married on August 8, 1948; her parents, Archer and Gertrude Simcox; two sisters, Marie Scharver, and Hazel Brumbaugh; and a brother, John Simcox – USS Indianapolis.
The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, September 4, 2015 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
Her Funeral Service will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 11:00 am, with Rev. Mike Zellers of Freeburg Church of the Brethren officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.
