Jesse Curtis Harry's Obituary
Jesse Curtis Harry, Jr., 71, of Alliance, died on Monday, April 25, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center. A lifelong resident of Alliance, Jesse was born on September 4, 1933, and was a graduate of Alliance High School. He was a U. S. Army veteran. Mr. Harry was a general contractor and was a co-owner of J & J Custom Woods. For many years, he operated food concession stands at fairs throughout the United States and Canada. He was a life member of the VFW Post 1036, American Legion Post 166, and the DAV, Chapter 50. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason, Conrad Masonic Temple. Mr. Harry was very active in historic preservation and belonged to the Stark County Preservation Society and the Alliance Preservation Society. He was also a member of the Alliance Historical Society. He was the founder of the "Save the Ramsey House" committee and was a construction supervisor for Habitat for Humanity. He founded and organized the drive for school supplies, furniture, and recycled prosthetics for Afghanistan. Jesse is survived by his wife, Janet (Stevenson) Harry whom he married on December 8, 1970; children, Jesse (Betty) Harry, III, of Atwater, Marcia Watson of Salem, Terri (Donald) Dugan of Jacksonville, FL, Mike (Chris) Aeling of Alliance, Virginia Aeling of Alliance, Tim (Patty) Aeling of Alliance, and Doreen (Brian) Daley of Pittsburgh; nine grandchildren, Becky, Missy, Brandy, D.J., Tonya, Alicia, Ben, Curtis, and Samantha; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Delores (Jerry) Rummell of Louisville, Jo Ann Mummert of Alliance, and Shirley (Bob) Patterson of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Curtis and Iva (Sittler) Harry, Sr. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Funeral services, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will begin at 3:00 p.m., with the Rev. Joseph Peters officiating.
