Jean M. Blocher's Obituary
Jean M. Blocher, 80, of Atwater, died at her home with her husband, Gerald and family at her side. Born on July 4, 1932 in Canton, OH she lived in the Canton and Alliance areas for all of her life. She was a 1950 graduate of Central Catholic High School in Canton. She later received Radiology training at Doctor s Hospital in Massillon and was one of the first to be trained as a nuclear medicine technician. Jean had been employed at Doctor s Hospital for many years in the radiology department. In later years, she enjoyed interior design, sewing and upholstering, with her sister Jackie. Jean, along with her husband Gerald, enjoyed boating at their cabin and spending their time with family. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Alliance. She had previously been a member of Canton St. Joseph. Mrs. Blocher had been a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, #141 for many years. Survivors include her husband, Gerald Blocher whom she married in October 1971; a step-son, Ted (Theresa) Blocher of Canton; and numerous nieces and nephews of the Blocher and McCallin families. Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Marvella (McMahon) McCallin; four sisters, Virginia McBride, Rita Beadling, Susie Antonacci, Jacqueline Joliat; and a brother, Larry McCallin. A special thank you to Julie McGuire and Ann-Marie Klingaman, for providing an environment of love and peace for Jeannie during this past year. Jeannie s memory will always be cherished by all of her nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Sunday, August 5, 2012, from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alliance on Monday, August 6, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home, 1000 S. Union Avenue, Alliance, Ohio 44601.
