Janet Hazlett's Obituary
Surrounded by family, Janet Hazlett, beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, went to be with Lord on May 11, 2024. She was 88 years old.
Janet had a servant’s heart and was always there to lend a hand and gave even when she didn’t have much. She loved baking and cooking meals for friends and family. Though she had no children of her own, she helped to raise, guide and nurture so many of us.
Janet enjoyed playing guitar which was a skill she taught herself. We will treasure memories of her strumming and singing with her sister, Marie, through the years.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Donald “Donny”; parents, Paul Ritchey and Beaula (Mack) Ritchey; siblings, Paul, Ardene, Bessie (Chappell), Marie (McCabe) and Galen.
Janet and Donny were missionaries in Boston before Donny became ill. She lovingly cared for him until his passing.
She is survived by siblings, James (Karen) Ritchey, Clair Ritchey, Elaine Biter and Mary Douglas as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Martindale Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 174 Alliance Ave., Portage PA 15946, on Friday, May 24th at 10:00AM with 11:00 funeral service followed by Internment at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Blue Knob, PA.
You are invited to view Janet's tribute wall, offer condolences and share memories at www.sharerfuneralhome.com. Local arrangements are by the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home.
