James Spano's Obituary
James Spano, 91, of Alliance, died Tuesday, January 21, 2003, at 3:30 a.m. at McCrea Manor. Born in Luxor, Pennsylvania on February 1, 1911, he had been a resident of Alliance most of his life. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Spano retired from B & W as a machine operator. He belonged to the Christopher Columbus Society and loved baseball and listening to music. Survivors include a daughter, Teresa Bradley of Oak Park, IL; son, Don Spano of Alliance; three step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his wife, Mary (Sedinger) Spano on June 22, 1972, whom he had married on September 28, 1942; his parents, Joseph and Frances (Fudoli) Spano; three sisters, Angilena Swick, Annie Marquis; and Josephine Spano; and three brothers, Dominic, Nick), and Steve Spano. Friends may call at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Saturday, January 25, 2003, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Saturday, January 25, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. J. Patrick Manning, officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Alliance City Cemetery.
