James W. Ray, Sr.'s Obituary
James W. Ray Sr., 77, of Sebring, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 9:50 am from his residence. Born on January 4, 1937 in Minerva, Ohio to James and Florence (Hert) Ray, he lived in Sebring since 1963. A graduate of Louisville High School, he served our country in the U.S. Army. James was a member of Community Bible Church in Beloit and he retired as a Tool & Die Welder from Transue & Williams in 1999 after 36 years of service. He was a member of International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers & Helpers, AFL-CIO, CFL. James loved reading & studying the Bible and listening to music of the 1950's, but he was most passionate about the care & appearance of his lawn. James is survived by his son, Jim W. (Vicky) Ray Jr. of Canton, OH; step-son, John K. Jackson III of Sebring, OH; five grandchildren, John, Mark, Jennifer, Amy, & Stephanie; three sisters, Catherine (Wayne - deceased) Sinclair of Alliance, OH, Esther (Kenneth) McFarland of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Ruth (Paul) Beard of Canton, OH; brother, Calvin (Ruth) Ray of New Castle, PA; and several great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy J. (Mylar) Ray on May 17, 2006 whom he married in April of 1963; father, James Ray; mother, Florence (Hert) Ray; brother, Edwin Ray; and sister, Lois Waltz. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at 11:00 am, with Rev. Rod Doran, of Community Bible Church, officiating. Interment, with military honors will follow at Highland Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home.
