James F. Patter's Obituary
James F. Patter, 84, of Alliance, died on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 4:10 a.m. at Crandall Medical Center in Sebring. He was born on April 21, 1924 in Mt. Lebanon, PA, and lived in Alliance most of his adult life. James was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Air Corps with the 101st Airborne Division. He received the purple heart and met his wife while recovering from his war injuries, as Marcella was a Lieutenant Army nurse. Mr. Patter was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church. James retired from the United States Postal Service in 1985, where he was employed as a letter carrier for 39 years. He was and avid and talented golfer and was a lifetime Steelers fan. A devoted husband and father he leaves behind a daughter Kim (Michael) Gatien of North Canton; a son, Jeff (Mary Ann) Patter of Dublin, OH; eight grandchildren, Jeff, Jenny, and Tim Bradley, Sean and Matt Gatien, and Julie, Megan and Brad Patter; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his wife, Marcella (Balduzzi) Patter on July 24, 2006 whom he married on January 7, 1946; a daughter, Patricia Bradley; his parents, Frank and Frances (Sebastian) Patter; two sisters, Dorothy Regine and Ruth Gossic and two brothers, Donald and Bernard Patter. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Saturday, June 7, 2008 from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Regina Coeli Catholic Church on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Michael Seifert, as celebrant. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
