James P. Lowry's Obituary
James P. Lowry, 85, of Canton, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2019 at 8:15 pm at The Pines Healthcare Center in Canton, Ohio.
He was born on November 11, 1933 in Scranton, Pennsylvania to James P. and Mary Ann (Bigger) Lowry.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Jim served with the Personnel Clerk Regimental Combat Team at Fort Deven, Massachusetts at the end of the Korean War. After his discharge he graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor Degree and began to teach Spanish and English at several High Schools in New Jersey. He then obtained his Masters Degree from the University of Dayton.
He later became a State Employment Interviewer for New Jersey restaurants and hotels and then devoted the latter part of his life taking care of his mother.
Jim has lived in several areas including New Jersey, Las Vegas and France, most recently moving to Alliance in 2003 to be with friends.
Survivors include a brother, Steven Lowry of Los Angeles, CA.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and an infant sister.
His Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at 5:00 pm at Heritage Villas, 905 Pittsburgh Ave NW, Canton, Ohio. Burial and Military Honors will be rendered at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
