James B. Eberly 's Obituary
James B. Eberly, 75, of Alliance, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at 2:48 pm at Alliance Community Hospital.
Born on September 17, 1939 in Massillon, Ohio to Beryl and Pauline (Bair) Eberly, he lived in Alliance for all of his life.
James received his education with the Class of 1958 at Alliance High School and had been employed at Chrysler Corporation in their Layout Dept. retiring on March 31, 1991 after 32 years of service.
He was a life social member of the American Legion, Sebring Post 76 and a life social member of V.F.W. Post 1036. Jim was also a Bar Tender at several of the Veterans organizations.
James had a heart of gold and he could never say “No” to anyone. He was an avid HO model train fan, enjoyed wood-working; his nickname in woodworking was “Gheppetto”. He was also known as “Manuel the Lawn Boy” as he mowed grass at home and for his neighbors. He was very gifted with all types of engine repairs and when he worked on them for others, he was known as “Bobby Bad Wrench”. He and his wife Lucy were animal rescuers for over 20 years.
Survivors include his loving wife, Lucy S. (Allen) Eberly of 39 years; his five children, Timothy James (Deb) Eberly of Strasburg, OH, Susan M. (Dan) Scott of Minerva, OH, Daniel J. (Dee Dee) Eberly of Wilmington, NC, David M. (Tammy) Swagler of Aurora, CO, and Dawn M. Bang of Inverness, FL; two brothers, George Eberly of AL, and Richard (Mary Beth Lauer) Eberly of Alliance, OH; 25 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his two children, Anthony W. Eberly and Robert G. Swagler; father, Beryl Eberly; mother, Pauline Woolf; brother, Jeffery Woolf; and a sister, Rose Marie Eberly; and a two sisters-in-law, Betty Eberly and Bethyl Eberly.
The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Monday, February 23, 2015 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am.
His Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am, with his nephew, Bret Sanor, officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park. Following services, the family will gather at the Sebring American Legion for a luncheon and fellowship.
