Jake Munitz's Obituary
Jake Munitz, 79, of Alliance, died on Saturday, April 26, 2003. Born in Alliance on June 14, 1923 he had been a lifelong resident of our city. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the V.F.W. and a life member of the American Legion and the Elks. He was also a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America, which he had previously been very active. Mr. Munitz was a member of Shaaray Torah Synagogue in Canton, and had retired in 1997 as the owner of the former Munitz Iron & Metal, which had been operating since 1900. Survivors include his daughter Cindy (Dave) Cade of Alliance; two grandchildren, Mark (Yvette) Cade and Samantha (Scott) Brunner; a sister Sara Cohn of Alliance; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Doris M. (Nestor) Munitz; his parents, Hyman and Sophia (Drutz) Munitz; and a sister Esther Tucker. Funeral services were held at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home today at 10:00 a.m., with Rabbi John H. Spitzer officiating. Burial followed at Grandview Cemetery in Sebring. There were no calling hours.
