Jacob B Hoover's Obituary
Jacob B Hoover, 66, of Alliance, died on Monday, May 28, 2012 at 2:37 a.m. at Alliance Community Hospital. He was born on June 28, 1945 in Alliance and lived here all of his life. He received his education in Alliance and received his Black Smith Apprentiship at American Steel Foundries, where he was employed for 29 years. He had also been a farmer for many years and delivered for Sherwood Manufacturing in the city. Mr. Hoover was a member of F.O.E. and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, wine making and family; as well as an avid Cleveland Indians fan and Cleveland Browns fan. He is survived by two daughters, Michelle (Chuck) Miller of Alliance and Teresa (David) Elliott of Marlboro; a son, John (Kathy) Hoover of Alliance; 6 grandchildren, Amanda, Jeremy, Curtis, Brandy, Zack & Tricia; 4 great-grandchildren, Emma, Payton, Ryan & Alli; 4 sisters, Marlene Monroe of Alliance, Caroline (Morris) Mercer of Alliance, Audrey (Melvin) Leech of Alliance and Kathleen Hoover; a half sister, Rosemary (Richard) Wolfgang of Poland; a sister-in-law, Esther Hoover of Alliance; a brother, Steven Hoover; a half brother, Gerald (Angie) Hoover of Tallmadge, OH; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his wife, Marilyn Kay (Amelung) Hoover on August 20, 1996, whom he married on April 16, 1965; his parents, Herbert Vance and Irene Ruth (Gantz) Hoover; 2 sisters, Linda Edwards and Joane Burns; and 4 brothers, James, Duane, Richard and Kenneth Hoover. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, May 31, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, June 1, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
