Jack White 's Obituary
Jack C. White, 85, of Alliance, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at home with his family.
Born on September 23, 1931 in Salem, Ohio to Kenneth and Helen (Stryffeler) White, he lived in Alliance for most of his life.
Jack was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church and was a 1950 graduate of Alliance High School. He also graduated from the University of Akron.
He served our country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant.
Jack was employed at B&W Research & Development as a Mechanical Engineer and retired after 42 years of service.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #558, where he was a Past Grand Knight as well as serving in many other capacities. He also received "Knight of the Year" award from the State of Ohio K of C. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Rev. Joseph P. Conlon Assembly 4th Degree and was active with their Honor Guard.
Jack was actively involved with his church and with the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading and especially loved his time with family gatherings.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, Marilyn J. (Yost) White, whom he married on September 15, 1956; three children, Susan (John) Meece of Alliance, OH, James A. (Vonda) White of Louisville, OH, Linda C. (Roger) Conrad of Alliance, OH; five grandchildren, Katie (Grant) Porter of Alliance, OH, Erin (Zack) Cline of Medina, OH, Joshua White of Louisville, OH, Lindsay Conrad of Boston, MA, and Eric ("CJ") Conrad of Lawndale, CA; who are expecting the first great-grandchild in January. Also surviving is a sister, Jean Bowman of Alliance, OH; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Kenneth & Helen White-Cummings.
A Knights of Columbus service will be held on Monday, October 10, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at Regina Coeli Catholic Church.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Joseph Ruggieri as main celebrant.
A private burial will take place at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery.
