Irene L. Lower's Obituary
Irene L. Lower, 87, of Alliance, passed away on July 14, 2010, at 2:58 a.m. at Community Care Center. She was born on May 9, 1923 in Alliance, and lived in Alliance all of her life. She was a graduate of Alliance High School. Irene worked for McCasky Register, Korosy Brother Stores, and had worked in the dry cleaning business for many years. Mrs. Lower was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed birds, flowers and trips to Amish country and Las Vegas. Survivors include her two sons, William L. Koch and Robert H. (Barbara) Koch both of Alliance; two step-children, Barbara A. (Lee) Ramsayer and Robert A. (Patricia) Lower, Jr. all of Alliance; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister Emma LaFountain of Buffalo, NY; and five nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her first husband of 25 years, Robert E. Koch in 1970; her second husband of 37 years, Robert A. Lower, Sr. in 2009; her parents, Louis and Susie (Balogh) Szasz; four sisters, Sue Korosy, Helen Dugan, Marge Goldie Olin and Mary Hebert; and a brother, George Balogh. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Sunday, July 18, 2010 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Monday, July 19, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Rod Doran of Community Bible Church officiating. Interment will follow at Alliance City Cemetery.
