Homer A. Henderson's Obituary
Homer A. Henderson, 89, of Alliance, died on Monday afternoon, November 26, 2007, in Alliance Community Hospital. A son of the late Arthur and Pearl (Culberson) Henderson, he was born October 18, 1918, in Alliance Homer was a veteran of the United States Navy. He retired from the Alliance Post Office, as letter carrier for 34 years. Homer was a member of Elks 467, Sebring VFW Post 6730, AARP, DAV Chapter 50, and American Legion Post 0888. Homer enjoyed many hobbies including golfing, bowling, hunting, fishing, and gardening. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ida (Lelesch) Henderson of the home; a daughter, Connie (Ronald) Haynes of Alliance; a son, Ronald Henderson of Cincinnati; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; many nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Elsie Kessopulos of Louisville. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Berneice Bruderly and Betty Lou Swisher. The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church, 1659 W. State Street on Friday, November 30, 2007, from 2:00 - 3:00. Funeral services will begin at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Gordon Thomas officiating. Military Honors, provided by the Sebring VFW Post will be held at the church. Cremation will follow.
