Herbert E. "Herb" Fannin's Obituary
Herbert E. "Herb" Fannin, 69, of Alliance, died on Monday, August 30, 2004, at Alliance Community Hospital. A graduate of Sarahsville High School, Herb was born in Cadiz on February 16, 1935, He lived in the Alliance area most of his life. He was a member of the Union Avenue Church of Christ. Mr. Fannin retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber of Akron in 1997 after 35 years of service. He enjoyed car racing and raced modified stock cars for over 17 years. He is survived by his wife, Delpha "Del" Willard Fannin; two sons, Stanley H. Fannin of Alliance and Kenneth E. (Linda) Fannin of Homeworth; a daughter, Jackie (Kenny) Mabry of Alliance; a step-daughter, Shirley (David) Maffei of Minerva; four grandchildren, Brack Mabry, Stanley Fannin, Steven Fannin, and Kyle Fannin; three step-grandchildren, Tony, Michael, and Jason Maffei; a step-great-granddaughter, Aeva; his mother, Florence (Wells) Beebe of Derwent, OH; two sisters, Patsy Young of Byesville, and Beverly Vona of Canton; a half-sister, Pam Beebe of Florida; a brother, Don Fannin of Pleasant City, OH; a half-brother, Jerry Beebe of Derwent; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Ruth (Archer) Fannin; his father, Leonard Fannin; and his step-father, Ernie Beebe. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Jeffrey G. Davis of the Bethel United Church of Christ as celebrant. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
