Helen Marie Van Wagenen's Obituary
Helen Marie Van Wagenen, 79, of Alliance, died on Tuesday, September 30, 2003, at 9:05 p.m. at her home. Born in Alliance on July 8, 1924, she was a lifelong resident of Alliance and had been a member of the Women's Naval Auxiliary during World War II. She had been employed at Columbia Gas Company and later worked as a secretary in the music department of Mt. Union College. Mrs. Van Wagenen was a member of the Beechwood United Methodist Church. She is survived by three sons, Ron (Debi) Van Wagenen of Saratoga Springs, NY, Doug Van Wagenen of Alliance, and Rob (Liliya) Van Wagenen of Philadelphia, PA; four grandchildren; a brother, Stanley Ray of Myrtle Beach, SC; and three nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Van Wagenen on November 12, 1991, they were married on July 13, 1957; and her parents, Miles and Myrtle (Rankin) Ray. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, October 5, 2005, from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. with funeral services beginning at 11 a.m. with the Rev.Scott Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
