Helen Eileen (Hoover) Shively's Obituary
Helen E. Shively, 93, a resident of McCrea Manor, died on Thursday afternoon at Alliance Community Hospital following a short illness. She was born on January 14, 1918 in Canton, to the late Elvin and Alverna Hoover. Helen retired from Berger Mfg. after more than 30 years of service. While she resided in Canton most of her life, after her retirement, she lived in Arizona, Florida and North Carolina before returning to this area. Helen had many interests including traveling, photography, painting, crafts and a love of poetry. She loved making handmade gifts for friends and family. She is survived by sons; James (Bernice) May of Carrollton, Bob May of Kissimmee, FL, Garry (Patricia) Roman of Alliance; a sister Virginia Thompson of Arizona; and a brother, Paul Hoover of Florida. She is also survived by stepsons; Frederick L. Shively of Canton, Eric Shively of Worthington, OH and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Shively was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick R. Shively; a sister Ruth Cornelius; and four brothers, Charlie, Kenneth, John, and Russell Hoover. Also preceding her in death was a stepdaughter Ramona Shively and stepson Gary Shively. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Monday, October 3, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. with the Rev. Joseph Peters officiating. Interment will follow at Moultrie Chapel Cemetery in New Franklin, Ohio.
