Helen (Trieff) Laing's Obituary
Helen (Trieff) Laing, 90, a resident of Windsor Medical Center in North Canton and formerly of Hartville, died on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 4:35 am at Mercy Medical Center. She was born on January 1, 1924 in Alliance, Ohio to Theodore and Mary Bunky (Avram) Trieff and lived in the Wooster and Hartville areas for most of her life. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Alliance. She was a graduate of Alliance High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Mt. Union College. She did her nursing residency at Case Western Reserve. Helen retired as a Surgical Nurse from Mercy Medical Center after 40 years of service in the nursing profession. Helen will be remembered for her gracious & generous demeanor and strong spirit. Survivors include her two daughters, Jennifer Laing of Hamilton, MT and Constance Laing of Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada; two grandchildren, Michael Laing-Fraser of Uxbridge, Ont., and Anna Laing-Fraser of Uxbridge, Ontario, with whom she had a very special bond. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Trieff of Alliance, OH; her brother, Tom Trieff of Alliance, OH, her sister-in-law Rosine Trieff of Indianapolis, IN; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband, Jack Laing, whom she married on September 18, 1948 and died on March 11, 1991; father, Peter Trieff; mother, Mary Bunky Trieff; and three brothers, Paul Trieff, Dan Trieff & Peter Mac Trieff. The family would like to thank the staff at Windsor Medical Center & Dr. Steven Weaver for the wonderful care given to Helen over the past five years. Also, thanks to Mercy Medical Center Staff and Hospice Staff for their compassionate care & support. The family will receive friends at the Trinity Episcopal Church on Thursday, July 24, 2014, from 11am -12 noon. Her Funeral Service will begin at 12 noon, with Fr. Dustin Berg, Pastor of St. Mark s Episcopal Church of Canton officiating. Interment will follow at Alliance City Cemetery. Arrangements are by Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home.
