Helen Green's Obituary
Helen Green, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many died September 05, 2003, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born May 19, 1921, in Marlboro, Ohio, to Lee H. and Doris M. (Haidet) Wood. She lived in the Marlboro area all her life, graduated from Marlboro High School in 1938 and from Mercy School of Nursing in 1943. She worked at Alliance City Hospital for 30 years as an Registered Nurse and was known to patients and co-workers as Ma Green. She and James A. Green were married October 4, 1943. Surviving her are her husband, Jim; her children and spouses, Steve and Jan Green of Taralga, Australia, Diane McHenry, Jim Green, Beth and Lonnie Smith, all of Alliance, Mary and Vaughn Theiss of Carrollton, Margie and Sheldon Thompson, Kathy and Tom Gibbs, John and Carol Green, Bill and Anna Green, Ed and Claudia Green, all of Marlboro, Tom and Georgette Green of Sydney, Australia; 24 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Twyla and Joe Grimm of Alliance and Kate Florea of Tipp City, OH; a sister-in-law, Betty Wood; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael; her parents, Lee and Doris Wood; and a brother, Wayne Wood. She was a life long member of the Sacred Heart of Mary Church, the Altar & Rosary Society, and the Royal Neighbors of America. She is remembered by her family and friends as a kind, generous, gentle and fun loving person who made beautiful quilts; loved to dance, play euchre and had beautiful flower gardens. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 9, 2003, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 10, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. by the Rev. Edward Beneleit. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery.
