Helen Jean Fussell's Obituary
Helen Jean Fussell, 83, of Sebring, died on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 4:55 p.m. at Crandall Medical Center in Sebring. She was born on April 27, 1928 in Alliance and lived in the Alliance area all of her life. A 1945 graduate of Alliance High School, she was a member of First Christian Church. She retired in 1981 from Ohio Bell, now AT&T, where she was employed as a Customer Service Representative. She was an active member of their retirees club, The Pioneers. After her retirement, she had been the owner & operator of Ellet Beverage in Akron, OH. for several years. Mrs. Fussell was also a member of the Holly Rebecca Lodge in Sebring. Being a resident of the area, she had many life-long friends and just enjoyed being with people. Family was extremely important to her and she maintained close relationships with her children, siblings and their extended families. Her home was the social family gathering spot for decades and simply the place to be. Helen Jean married Milton Fussell in 1954 and after parting ways, she later re-connected with her high school sweet heart Bill Barricks, who loved, cherrished and supported her for 28 years. She also leaves behind a daughter, Kathy (Rick) Springer of Cleveland; a son, John (Connie) Fussell of Alliance; two grandchildren, Stephanie (Shawn) Stutler of Alliance, and Graham Fussell of Columbus; two step-grandchildren, Mindy Springer and her daughter Ciarra of Cleveland and Bill (Anita) Springer and their daughter Isabelle of Royal Oak, MI; a sister, Rebecca Shafer of Kettering, OH; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her parents, John and Anna (Pavara) Florea; three sisters, Irene Meir, Ann Brimlow, and Virginia Hudson; and two brothers, John Florea and Phil Florea. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Saturday, September 3, 2011 from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. David Parry, Chaplain of Copeland Oaks, officiating.
