Harvard "Ike" Garvin's Obituary
Harvard "Ike" Garvin, 81, of Alliance, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 2, 2020.
Born on March 16, 1938 in Diana, West Virginia, he lived in Alliance most of his life.
He attended Alliance High School, and then served our country in the U.S. Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Ike was a Mixer-Operator at Monarch Rubber Co. in Hartville for over 28 years and then worked as a security guard at Genie.
Ike was a family man. He was a member of Alliance Baptist Temple and the Worldwide Church of God.
He enjoyed traveling and sightseeing, working on old cars and going to car shows and would drag race when he was younger.
Survivors include two sons, Mark Garvin of Bainbridge, OH and Vance (Carol) Garvin of Columbus, OH; four grandchildren, Alisha Garvin, Wyatt Garvin, Jenifer Garvin and Nicole Ormiston; five great-grandchildren, Katelyn Garvin, Dezaray Garvin, Ashlynn Garvin, Grayson Garvin and Serenity Garvin; three sisters, Claudette Richards, Bonnie Kass and Joan Light; two brothers, Clyde Light, Marvin Blanchard; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his mother, Bernice Blanchard; his sister, Patty Light; five brothers, Butch Light, Harry Light, James Light, Larry Light and Kenneth Ware.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 6, 2020 from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home. His Funeral Service will begin at 7:00.
