Harry Clair Haupt's Obituary
Harry Clair Haupt, 95, of North Benton, left this world to be with his wife Hazel of 52 years, on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 8:15 am at Mercy Medical Center. He was born on November 15, 1918 in Brookville, Pennsylvania, was raised in Alliance and had lived in North Benton since 1967. He was a graduate of Alliance High School and retired as an Electrician from Hendershot Electric Co. after 26 years of service. He was a member of I.B.E.W. - International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union 540. A veteran of WWII, he served our country in the U.S. Navy. Harry was an avid collector of antique German Bier Steins and was a member of Stein Collectors International & Buckeye Stein Verine. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, swimming, boating and had been a water safety instructor for the Alliance Red Cross. Harry is survived by his 5 children - Judy (Frank) Bargides of Louisville, OH, Gary (Pat) Haupt of Ravenna, OH, Connie Spangenburg of Sacremento, CA, Manny (Pam) Haupt of Canton, OH, and Jon (Dorothy) Haupt of Mogadore, OH; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel (Allison) Haupt, whom he married on February 13, 1937; and died on November 5, 1989; his parents; Vene Pete and Marie (Reichard) Haupt; a daughter, Sandy Richards, and a sister, Ruby Taschwer. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Funeral Ceremony will begin at 4:00 pm. Interment, with military honors will take place at a later date at Highland Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home.
