Harry A. Collins' Obituary
Harry A. Collins, 71, of Alliance, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, March 26, 2012. Born on May 25, 1940 in Alliance, he had been resident here for all of his life. He attended Alliance First Friends Church. Harry received his education from Alliance Public Schools and had served our country in the U.S. Air Force. He had been employed at American Steel Foundry, the Chrysler Plant in Twinsburg and the Ohio Department of Transportation. Mr. Collins was a member of Sleepy Hollow Country Club and was an avid golf enthusiast. He was also very active with the Alliance Hot Stove Leagues. He was a former baseball coach and had been head of umpires. He also served as umpire for many slow pitch games. But Harry s most devout passion was his love of family. He leaves behind his wife, Marjorie A. (Brocklehurst) Collins, whom he married on June 3, 1961; four sons, William A. (Vicky) Collins, Thomas C. Collins, Michael L. (Teresa) Collins and David S. (Michelle) Collins, all of Alliance; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Teresa (Richard) Weisenburger of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Thomas B. and Theda L. (Sanor) Collins; and a sister, JoAnn Nelson. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, March 30, 2012, from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. and also at the Alliance Friends Church on Saturday, March 31, 2012, from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held at the Alliance Friends Church Saturday, March 31, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., with Outreach Pastor Gilbert Goodwin officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at West Beech Cemetery.
