Harold W. Gulling's Obituary
Harold W. Gulling, 86, of Alliance, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2014 at Sterling House of Alliance. He was born on May 12, 1928 in Maximo, Ohio to George and Myrtle (Winkleman) Gulling and lived in the Alliance area for all of his life. He was a graduate of Louisville High School and had been a third generation Wood Pattern Maker and was the former owner of Taylor Pattern Works in Salem. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served our country in the U.S. Army, and was a member of American Legion, Post 166 Alliance. He was a former member of the Sleepy Hollow Country Club, the Balsa Bees and of the Knights of Columbus. Harold enjoyed building & flying his radio controlled airplanes, fishing, golfing, traveling and working puzzles. He also enjoyed rides in the country, especially through Maximo. He loved time with his grandchildren & great-grandchildren. Harold is survived by his three daughters, Debbie A. (Ben) Frustos of Alliance, OH, Denise A. (Chuck) Biery of Salem, OH, Lisa A. (David) Roberts of Canal Fulton, OH; two sons, Mel E. (Dorothy) Young, Jr. of Alliance, OH, Jerry A. (Carol) Young of Louisville, OH; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, LaRue Tice of Kemah, TX; and a niece. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth V. Gulling, whom he married on February 11, 1956 and died on June 1, 2012; and his parents, George and Myrtle Gulling. The family will receive friends at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Matthew J. Mankowski, of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, officiating. Interment, with military honors will follow at Highland Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home.
