Gretchen N. Grisez's Obituary
Gretchen N. Grisez, 84, of Alliance, died on Saturday, January 26, 2002, at the Desert Samaritan Hospital in Mesa, Arizona. Born in Alliance on November 25, 1917, she had lived in the Alliance area for all of her life. Mrs. Grisez was a Registered Nurse and had been employed for many years at the Alliance Community Hospital. She had been a Surgical Nurse and a Nurse Anesthetist in the OB Ward. A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, she was an auxiliary member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 558. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Colette and Thomas Schillig of Alliance; son and daughter-in-law, David and Carol Grisez of Gilbert, Az; granddaughter and her spouse, Lisa Bowe, PE and Loren Bowe, PE, of Tempe, Az; granddaughter and spouse, Duane & Michele Grisez Redmond, PhD., of Gilbert, Az; granddaughter, Jenine Grisez of Tucson, Az; granddaughter, Laura Schillig of Columbus, Oh; grandson, Brian Schillig, D.V.M., of Sheffield Lake, Oh; great- grandsons, Ethan Bowe and Ryan Redmond; three nieces and two nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, Charles E. and Janet (Cargill) Newton; her husband, Basil Grisez on July 20, 1978, (whom she married on March 7,1941); and a sister, Wanda Kurlinski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday, February 1, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Donald L. Feicht as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, January 31, 2002, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
