Gloria C. Giordano's Obituary
Gloria C. (Lolli) Giordano, 90, of Alliance, passed away on Monday, October 1, 2018 at Community Care Center.
Born on November 1, 1927 in Alliance, Ohio to Oswald and Josephine (Rotuna) Lolli, she lived in Alliance all of her life.
Gloria was a Charter Member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and the Bereavement Committee.
Following graduation from Alliance High School, she worked in the Pentagon for the Department of the Army discharging Army Officers after World War II.
Gloria was the founder and original owner of LoDano's Footwear.
She was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Women's Division, the Quota Club and the Carnation Festival Board.
Mrs. Giordano Volunteered at Alliance Community Hospital for 25 years and was a trustee for the Auxiliary Board.
Gloria received the 2015 Athena Woman of the Year Award and was a Helen Hartzell Award recipient.
She continually volunteered to help the community of Alliance and worked on many campaigns throughout the years.
Gloria enjoyed cooking and baking, and she was featured in the Alliance Review for her traditional Easter Italian Brunch.
Survivors include her son, James (Barbara) Giordano of Alliance; two daughters, Patricia (Mark) Lamielle of Alliance and Mary Jo (Duane) Schaffer of Alliance; grandchildren, Jamie (Brad) Huntsman, Stephen (Mirca) Gembar, Ellen (Will) Luciano, Julie Giordano, Christina (Adam) Gatton, Katie Schafer, Jennifer (Jason) Seelman, Patrick Schafer, Scott Schaffer and Molly Schafer; great-grandchildren; and her brother, Gerald (Laura) Lolli of CA.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Fred Giordano on May 31, 2011 whom she married on February 26, 1949; her parents; and a brother, Robert Lolli.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home and also on Saturday, October 6, 2018 from 9:00 am - 10:00 am at Regina Coeli Catholic Church.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 10:00 am at Regina Coeli Catholic Church, with Rev. Matthew J. Mankowski, as celebrant.
A luncheon will be held in the Parish Hall immediately following Mass. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park following the luncheon.
