Glenn E. Miller's Obituary
Glenn E. Miller, 66, of Alliance died on Saturday, October 3, 2009, at 12:05 a.m. at the Cleveland Clinic with his loving family by his side following a six month illness. Born on February 19, 1943 in Alliance, he had lived in Alliance all of his life. A 1962 graduate of Alliance High School, he was employed at Transue & Williams for 24 years and retired from Kent State University, Stark Campus after 10 years of service in 2005. Mr. Miller was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a thirty year member of B.P.O. Elks, Lodge 467. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl (Grace) Miller of 45 years; two daughters, Glenna (Lyn) Miller of Ithaca, NY and Gina (Rob) Kirk of Alliance; a son, Jason (Cheryl) Miller of Alliance. He was also blessed with nine grandchildren, Joshua, Joseph & Mia Miller-LaBar of Ithaca, NY, Logan Grace, Shawn, Samuel & Landrey Kirk of Alliance, Jaycie & Shaylie Miller of Alliance. Glenn was the youngest of 15 children and is survived by eight siblings: Dorothy Fudoli of Alliance, Donna Lauener of Alliance, June Biltz of Kent, Dolores Foster of Spencer, Vincent, Raymond & Clyde Miller all of Alliance and Charles Miller of Sebring; and many nieces & nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Paul and Rose (Spiker) Miller; and six brothers, Robert, William, Kenneth B., Ralph, John and Paul Miller. Glenn and Cheryl enjoyed traveling, gardening and dancing. Known to his grandchildren and many others as Pappy, he loved watching his grandsons play sports and his granddaughters dance and dress up and attending all their activities. Most of all Pappy loved the holidays and having his whole family together. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home following cremation on Sunday, October 11, 2009, from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Private funeral services, officiated by the Rev. Fr. Donald L. Feicht, will be held at a later date. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
