Glen O. "Inky" Needham's Obituary
Glen O. "Inky" Needham, 83, of Alliance, died on Monday, July 2, 2007, at 9:30 a.m. at Alliance Community Hospital. He was born on August 5, 1923 in Goshen Township, and lived in Alliance most of his life. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, and was also a member of the Army Reserves for three years. Glen retired from the former Carli Lumber Company of Sebring, where he was employed as a carpenter for 25 years. Mr. Needham was a member of the United Commercial Travelers. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing and was an avid sports fan especially baseball and football and college basketball. He is survived by his wife, Joan E. (Bart) Needham whom he married on May 14, 1955; four daughters, Denise (Lou) Putigano of Hilliard, Glenda Miller of Alliance, Leisa (Albert) Kijowski of Niles and Joni (Ralph) Wilkinson of Alliance; a son, David B. (Bonnie) Needham of Fayetteville, NC; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a nephew, Eugene Lippiatt of Berlin Center; and several other nieces and nephews. Glen was preceded in death by his parents, William and Edyth (Sheen) Needham; two sisters, Dorothy and Lillian; and two brothers, James and Kenneth. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, July 5, 2007 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, July 6, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Msgr. James Kolp of St. Joseph Catholic Church officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
