Gerald R. "Jerry" Tanner's Obituary
Gerald R. "Jerry" Tanner, 82, of Alliance, died on Sunday, February 11, 2007, at his home. He was born on July 4, 1924 in Alliance and was a lifetime resident here. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Jerry retired from the Alliance Fire Department after 25 years of service as a firefighter. He loved all things "Cowboy" and enjoyed his favorite pass-time of tooling leather. Jerry had a small leather business which he supplied products to Cowboy Action Shooters at the Salem Gun Club. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Daunett & Norman Mullen of Alliance; a granddaughter, Angela Finch of Alliance; and three great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death was his wife, Marjorie (Toole) Tanner on July 14, 2000, whom he married on June 1, 1957; one daughter, Michelle Vogus; his parents, Harold H. and Marie (Held) Tanner; and a brother, William Tanner. A Memorial Service will be held at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. There are no calling hours. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park.
