Gerald "Jerry" Orsburn's Obituary
Gerald "Jerry" Orsburn, 75, of Alliance, died on Monday, October 26, 2009, at 4:11 p.m. at Alliance Community Hospital. Born on February 4, 1934 in Akron Ellet, he lived in Alliance for 50 years and was a member of Beechwood United Methodist Church. A graduate of Augusta High School, Jerry retired from Armour Abrasives as a transportation manager, after 31 years of service. He later worked for Maurico Interior Services for 12 years. Mr. Orsburn was a former Exalted Ruler of the Alliance B.P.O.E. Elks #467 and had served as secretary for many years. He was also the recipient of the John Berletich Award as a member of Jaycees. He enjoyed buying and selling at auctions, working in the yard with flowers, golfing and bowling. Jerry is survived by his wife, Norma (Shutler) Orsburn; a daughter, Theresa "Tess" (Tommy Pasco) Orsburn of Alliance; two sons, Michael Orsburn of Alliance and Andrew (Marlene) Orsburn of Alliance; eight grandchildren, Shado, Michael, Kya, Zachary, Andrea, Christine, Peggy and Rebecca; a sister, Edith Patterson of Akron; two brothers, Pete (Sheila) Orsburn of Alamonte Springs, FL and Jack Orsburn; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, George and Ida (Schindewolf) Orsburn; a sister, Catherine George; an infant sister, Pauline; and five brothers, Harry, William, Ralph, Elmer and George Orsburn. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, October 29, 2009 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. An Elks service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, October 30, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. with Elder Jerry Maurico, officiating. Entombment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
