Gerald "Joe" Higgins 's Obituary
Gerald "Joe" Higgins, 80, of Alliance, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 2:10 am at Altercare of Alliance.
Born on May 8, 1935 in Toronto, Ohio to Charles S. and Grace G. (Duncan) Higgins, he lived in Alliance for most of his life.
A graduate of Sebring High School, he served our country in the U.S. Army.
Joe was employed at Chrysler Corporation in Twinsburg, Ohio as a tow motor driver and retired after 30 years of service.
Joe was a professional roller skater in his younger years and enjoyed golfing. He was a member of B.P.O. Elks, Lodge #467 and was a past president of the Alliance Bowling Association
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou (Held) Higgins, whom he married on April 15, 1972; a daughter, Lisa Higgins of CA; two step-daughters, Jodie Zucchero of Salisbury, NC and Angela (Bryan) Stoynoff of North Canton; two grandchildren, Matthew Zucchero and Leah Stoynoff; a brother, Jim Higgins of Massillon; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, Frank, Benson, and George Higgins; and five sisters, Betty Wells, Lucy Dickey, Ida Mae Blake, Doris Dallas and Mary Piergallini.
Private services will be held.
