Mary Ann and children, We're so sorry to hear of Jere's passing. Spending the winters in Largo, Florida keeps us from current Ohio news. We just wanted you to know why you hadn't hear from us. Jere and I did share memories of growing up at the Burke Apartments. It's difficult to believe so much time has passed. Our prayers will be offered for you all during Mass this weekend. God bless, Jane and Tom McHugh
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. May Mr. Burke be welcomed into the kingdom with open arms and may the love and memories you shared give you comfort. God Bless.
My prayers and sympathy go to the entire Burke family. I am one of many whom Mr. Burke saw as having unrealized potential, then upon seeing that potential, he took the time to inspire me to exceed expectations. He became one of the most influential people in my life during my time at Marlington. Mr. Burke always seemed a bit out of place, too sophisticated and educated to be working as a librarian for some rural public high school - though I am so very glad he did. His wit, his dry humor and his love of the nuances of the English language remain with me to this day. I thank God for Mr. Burke.
Dear Friends, we have no words to express our sincere sense of sadness in the loss of one of God's Angels on Earth. Our prayers are with all of you in this most difficult time. Jere was one of those men who did everything for his family. He was a loving Father and Husband. He was a man of great dignity spirituality, and love. His work is done here on earth, it is now time for him to live in the eternal peace of the the God he loved. May God Bless All of You.
Greg & Family, Please accept my deepest sympathy for the loss of your father. As you know, I met him as a freshman at MHS. Energetic, helpful, sincere and interested is how I remember him from those days. In the years since, and each time our paths crossed, his genuine concern for my wellbeing continued. Now I remember him, not as a teacher from long ago, but as a friend. May God grant you great comfort in his memory. Ben Frustos Allaince, OH
To the entire Burke family I want you to know we share your loss. All 5 of my children were fortunate enough to be under his teachings. He holds a special place in their hearts and that of mine. My husband and I so admired him and how he stressed family and the love of the Lord. MaryAnn is a special lady too. They showed love to each other and I know she will miss him terribly, but we all have to say it is heavens gain. Just think he doesn't have to read the book anymore he is with the ones who wrote it. He has received his mansion in glory and will await the many with whom he shared his love of God. His mind and body are perfect once again and for that we are grateful. Kids, you had a special dad that you shared with so many and we are richer for it. He and Eleanor Ramser are once again tormenting each other. God Bless each of you.
Dear Mrs. Burke and family, Your family has been such gracious friends to our family for so very many years. I remember fondly the days of playing at your house in Alliance. Please know that we are thinknig of you and praying God gives you the strength you need each day for the loss of your loving husband, father & grandfather. With love, Craig, Amy, Nathanael & Andrew
I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Burke on some of his visits south, and was struck by his cheerful nature and pride in his family. I've had the opportunity to hear a lot about him from Greg through the years. What a wonderful gentleman and the epitome of a family man he has been! I join everyone in the NSU family in extending condolences and prayers for the entire Burke family and the many friends in Ohio. Many people have asked me how Greg, Susu and C.J. are doing and have expressed their concern and love for the entire family. Take pride in a life well lived and the legacy of children and grandchildren, and thousands of students and people he positively affected. Doug Ireland, Natchitoches, LA
Greg, Susu, Catherine, and the Burke family, Me, Colene, Haley and Katelyn want to sincerely express our condolences for your loss. You all, and the rest of your family, are in our thoughts and our prayers. Matthew
