George Rogers 's Obituary
George Rogers, 86, of Alliance, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 12:15 pm at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born December 15, 1928 in Depew, New York, the son of Ludovica and Sam Rogers and lived in Alliance all of his life. He was a graduate of Alliance High School and attended Mt. Union College.
A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served our country in the United States Air Force and spent one year of his four-year duty in North Africa.
He retired from Morgan Engineering after 36 years where he was last employed as a programmer. He then worked for Circuitronics also as a programmer.
George was a musician, playing the saxophone and clarinet. He and his twin brother, Victor, were well known in the area and started playing in the Louis Marini Band at the age of 16. They later formed their own band playing for dances, weddings and various events for over 50 years.
In 1976, George obtained a real estate license, working with a Canton agency at first and later worked in the Alliance area for the next 25 years.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Lasky) Rogers, who was his high school sweetheart. They were married in the First Presbyterian Church by Rev. John J. Stephens on March 12, 1950. He is also survived by several very special nephews and nieces.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his twin brother, Victor Rogers and brother, Charles Rogers.
At George’s request, he is being cremated. There will be a private memorial service at a later date for family and close friends.
