George Nelson Lyberger's Obituary
George Nelson Lyberger, 85, of Alliance, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, March 2, 2008 at 9:35 a.m. at Bel Air Senior Living Community, following an extended illness. He was born on August 14, 1922 in Alliance, and lived in Alliance all of his life. George graduated from Alliance High School in June of 1942. He was a U. S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II serving with the 509th Composite Group in the South Pacific. Mr. Lyberger was a builder at Alliance Machine Company, he retired in 1984 after 42 years of service. He bowled at the Parkway Lanes and the College Plaza in the Senior Bowling League. George also enjoyed hunting and gardening. George is survived by his step-daughter, Dotte (Jim) Brush of Alliance; three grandchildren, Bo (JoEllen) Brush of N. Canton, Kelly (Judi) Brush of Alliance and Kim Tobias of Charlottesville, VA; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Catherine C. "Casey" Lyberger of Alliance; one brother, Ray J. (Bernice) Lyberger of Alliance; one sister-in-law, Ruth Lyberger of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his wife, Helen E. (Butterine) Lyberger on February 12, 1989; his parents, Henry S. and Mabel M. (Messenheimer) Lyberger; a half sister, Helen G. (Charles) Collette; and two brothers, Harold J. (Thelma) Lyberger and Fred H. Lyberger. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Fr. Donald L. Feicht of St. Joseph Catholic Church officiating. Entombment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
