George "Mick" Loy's Obituary
George "Mick" Loy, 78, of Salem, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 1:18 a.m. at Alliance Community Hospital.
Born on March 29, 1940 in Turkey Run, West Virginia to Arch A. and Alleta (Long) Loy, he lived in Alliance since 1966.
He attended Reader High School and was employed at Chrysler Corporation as a fork lift operator for 38 years, retiring in 2006.
George enjoyed rebuilding lawn mowers and helping others with car repairs. He spent every weekend watching his son and grandson race at Deerfield Raceway. He especially loved spending time with his wife, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his three children, Debbie (Gary) Utley of Salem, OH, Steven (Patricia) Loy of Alliance, OH and Cathy (Sam) Gibson of Alliance, OH; nine grandchildren, Nicole (Andrew) Witham, Kayla Loy, Taylor Loy, Shaun Loy, Jennifer Utley, Brandon Utley, Sam Gibson, Jr., Gina (Matthew) Wolfe and Kimberly Gibson; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lawrence (Loretta) Loy of New Martinsville, WV and Kenny (Linda) Loy of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Estal Fannie (Henthorn) Loy, whom he married on June 13, 1959 and who passed away on October 29, 2017; his daughter, Lorna K. Loy; two grandchildren, Stephanie Michelle Loy and Courtney Marie Utley; a great-grandson, Dominic Michael Loy; his parents; a sister, Gayle (Tom) Dulaney; and two brothers, Harry and Bob Loy.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home. His Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Randy Gobley, of Damascus Friends Church officiating. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
