George W. Kotte's Obituary
George W. Kotte, 84, of Alliance, died on Thursday, December 20, 2007, at 11:18 a.m. at Village Towers in Canton. He was born on April 7, 1923 in Alliance, and lived here most of his life, moving to Canton 18 years ago. A graduate of Mount Union College, he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. He was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alliance. George was employed by the former Morgan Engineering Co. and retired from the Firestone Tire & Rubber, where he was employed as a Mechanical Engineer. He later started an accounting business which he retired from in 2005. Mr. Kotte was a member of the National Historical Railroad Society and an avid steam engine enthusiast. George was a devoted son, brother & uncle and leaves behind his brother, Leo (Barbara) Kotte of Alabama; one sister, Margaret Stone of Alliance; nieces and nephews, Atty. Stephen (Pat) Stone, Leslie (Dean) Swift, Deb Chaney, Douglas (Holly) Kotte, Patti (Michael) Braun and David (Lynne) Kotte; and many great-nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, George H. and Fern (Kelly) Kotte. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. and also on Thursday, December 27, 2007 from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Alliance on Thursday, December 27, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Donald L. Feicht, as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
