George Angelo Castellucci's Obituary
On Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at 8:00 a.m. at Mercy Medical Center, George Angelo Castellucci, 79, of Alliance, passed on to be with the Lord. Born in Alliance to Constantine and Caterina (Pandin) Castellucci on February 28, 1926, he had lived in Alliance all of his life. George was very proud of his Italian heritage. He was a graduate of Alliance High School and was a World War II veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving in the Pacific Theatre. George was a light machine gun crewman with Company L, Third Battalion, First Marine Division. Mr. Castellucci was the owner and operator of the Hilltop Nursery landscaping business. His passion for the outdoors and gardening was evident in his business. George was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Alliance and the Knights of Columbus, Council #558. With his love of babies and children, he was also a very active member of the Stark County Right to Life, serving as president of the Alliance chapter for many years. He also enjoyed reading, woodworking, and spending time with his family. He loved life and had a deep passion for family and God. George is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marianne L. (Doll) Castellucci; 11 children, Georgeanne (Bill) Hoover, Peggy (Lee) Laughlin; Connie (Jim) Hanes, John (Nancy) Castellucci, Paul (Eunice) Castellucci, Theresa (Howard) Booher, Susan Castellucci, Joan (Ron) Allen, Mike (Tracy) Castellucci, Jim (Jean) Castellucci, and Angie (Shawn) Richards; 21 grandchildren, Sarah, Sean, Kristen, Kelly, Matthew, Russell, Thomas, Andrew, Dale, Dana, Ryan, Devon, Shawn, Michael, Antigone, Jacob, Justin, Daniel, Cassie, Savanna, and Kyra; sister, Margaret "Midge" (Tony) Del Gatto; brother, Joseph (Saundra) Castellucci; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Frank Castellucci. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Sunday, December 18, 2005, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday, December 19, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Donald L. Feicht as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by U.S. Marine Crops Base in Akron, Ohio, with the American Legion Alliance Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Alliance Post 1036, assisting.
