Gary A. "Gat" Thomas' Obituary
Gary A. "Gat" Thomas, 70, of Alliance, died on Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at 5:05 p.m. at Akron City Hospital. He was born on November 16, 1939 in Dennison, and lived in Alliance most of his life. A graduate of Minerva High School, Gary retired from Marlboro Manufacturing and was employed at various machine shops in the area. Mr. Thomas was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Dante Alighieri Society, the Christopher Columbus Society and the William Penn Club. He was the founder and past president of the Alliance Chapter Stone Cold Motorcycle Club and a former member of the Bounty Hunters Motorcycle Club. In his past-time, he enjoyed working on and riding Harley s. Gary is survived by his wife, Mickie (Beckett) Thomas whom he married on July 28, 1985; his children, Kimberly (Dean) Kuszmaul, Craig (Elain) Thomas, Brian Thomas, Chad (Tammy) Thomas, Jerry (Trish) Pasco, Tony (Michelle) Pasco and Sheri (Tim) Windland; 17 grandchildren, Donnie, Joshua, Alicia, Craig, Dakota, Deidra, Maila, Zachary, Coty, Heather, Steven, Daniel, Kelli Suzanne, Cory, Payshunze, Kyle and Maggie; two great-grandchildren, Donnie III and Austin; his step-father, Roland Thomas; his mother, Marie (Whetzell) Unkefer; a sister, Maria Elena Taylor; a brother, Glen A. "Gat" Thomas; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was grandson, Devin Thomas; his father, Walter Bridgman; and his step-father, Herbert "Chub" Unkefer. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, January 8, 2010 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Michael Kimble of the Church of the Nazarene in Sebring officiating. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. The family would like to invite family and friends to the Dante Alighieri for a celebration dinner following the service.
