Gary "Bo" Custar's Obituary
Gary "Bo" Custar, 60, of Alliance, died unexpectedly on Friday, January 23, 2009 at his home. He was born on November 15, 1948 in Alliance, and lived here for all of his life. A 1967 graduate of Alliance High School, Gary enlisted in the U. S. Army and had served two tours of duty in Vietnam. Gary was currently employed at Sovereign Circuits, Inc., in North Jackson. He had previously worked at Electric Circuit and Design, Transue & Williams and the Alliance Senior Center. He was a member of the First Christian Church and will always be remembered for his many kindnesses in helping others in need. Gary enjoyed going boating & fishing and spending time with his best friend and brother-in-law, John Brick. He especially loved his time he had with his family and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Karen K. (Maloney) Custar, whom he married on June 3, 1972; two daughters, Amy R. (Derek) McClowry of Canton and Melissa A. (Jared) Duncan of Alliance; three grandchildren, Anna McClowry, Patrick McClowry, and Lydia Duncan; four sisters, Connie (Paul) Mohr of Alliance, Cathy (Dave) Welsh of Alliance, Sherrie (Tom Martin) Custar of Philadelphia, PA, and Shellie (Richard) Lepucki of North Canton; his father-in-law, Clyde Maloney of Alliance; four sisters-in-law, Joanne (John) Brick of Greenville, NC; Sally (Jim) Green of Duluth, GA, Sue (Mark) Herndon of Carmel, IN and Jean Patterson of Alliance; and seventeen nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, John J. Custar and Sylvia (Pelanda) Custar-Greenfield; and his mother-in-law, Deloris Maloney. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 28, at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. Pam Bruno, officiating. Military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will close the service. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park at a later date.
