Freeman "Cap" Morrison, Jr.'s Obituary
Freeman "Cap" Morrison, Jr., 79, of Alliance, died on Monday, January 3, 2011, at 1:20 p.m., in the Emergency Room at Mercy Medical Center in Canton. He was born on June 7, 1931 in Alliance and lived in the Alliance and Salem areas for all of his life. A 1949 Graduate of Alliance High School, he had been employed as a Driver and Manager at Chappell-Zimmerman in Salem and had retired as Plant Manager at Canfield Concrete after many years of service. After retirement he continued to drive Dump Trucks in the area until recently. He was a member of the Bolton United Methodist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, Usher, Church Trustee and member of the Choir. In his leisure, he and his wife enjoyed going to fairs & flea markets and traveling. Survivors include his wife, Marilee (Hedge) Morrison, whom he married on May 29, 1982; a daughter, Rebekah Morrison of Alliance; three sons, Gary (Sharon) Morrison, Jerry (Sherry) Morrison and Jim (Joanne) Morrison, all of Salem; seven grandchildren, Shari Morrison, Stephanie (Mark) Smith, Shelly Morrison, Justin (Anna) Stouffer, Jerry (Mindy Schuller) Morrison, Jr., Courtney (Tad) Artrip, and Jim Morrison, Jr.; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Donna (Jim) Mock of Canton; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Cap and Marilla (Boles) Morrison; and a brother, Richard Morrison. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, January 6, 2011 from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, January 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., with Dr. David Bloor, officiating. Following the service, cremation will take place and interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
