Fred Giordano's Obituary
Fred Giordano of Alliance, Ohio was received by the Lord on May 31, 2011 following a lengthy illness. Fred, age 85, lived most of his life in Alliance. He was born on October 29, 1925 in Follansbee, West Va. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Julia (Natali) and Gabriel Giordano of Wellsville, Ohio, a brother Sgt. James Giordano and a sister Mary Tolson Johnson of East Liverpool. Fred is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gloria Lolli, along with three children, James (Barb) Giordano of Alliance, Patricia (Mark) Lamielle of Malvern, and Mary Jo (Duane) Schaffer of Alliance. In addition to his wife and children, Fred is survived by five sisters including Madeline (Lee) Rinaldo of Steubenville, Rose Vallone of Steubenville, Antonette Walker of East Liverpool, Geraldine (Richard) Bryer of East Liverpool and Carmella (Bill) Boyce of Wellsville. He is also survived by two brothers, John (Bertha) Giordano of Ambridge, Pa and Sam (Carol) of East Liverpool. Grandchildren include Jamie (Brad) Huntsman of Moon Township, PA, Stephen Gembar of Largo, Florida, Ellen (Will) Luciano of Akron, Julie Giordano of San Diego, Ca., Christina Gembar of Columbus, Katie Schafer of Los Angeles, California, Jennifer (Jason) Seelman of Canton, Patrick Schafer of Alliance, Scott Schaffer of Alliance, Molly Schafer of Alliance and great granddaughter Cecilia Luciano of Akron. Fred was a life-long member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church in Alliance. He worked at Babcock and Wilcox Tubular for 26 years and Cruicible Steel in Midland, Pennsylvania prior to moving to Alliance. Fred was a long time member of the Christopher Columbus Society of Alliance. Among his hobbies, Fred enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, gardening and raising Brittany Spaniel pups. Friends may call at the Sharer-Stirling Skivolocke Funeral Home in Alliance on Sunday, June 5, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. and Monday, June 6, 2011 at Regina Coeli Church from 10-11 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be on Monday, June 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Regina Coeli Church with Father Michael Seifert officiating.
